Lost In Translation#248

TO had a good time dancing to Shaitaan Ka Saala on New Year’s eve but didn’t know the name of the song. His Hindi being what it is, half the words just escape him entirely! And when he does utter them, they are so far from where they started out that it’s more of a #dafuq moment than a #LOL one.

He asked me for the name of the song so he could tell Alexa to play it. And this is what happened…

TO-“Alexaaa wake up”. Alexa- I am awake. What can I do for you? TO-” Alexa play Sankranti Masala“. Alexa- goes round and round till she gives up the ghost and begins to reboot!!

Hooman-1. Gadget- still rebooting.

Book Review: The Bad Guys

The Bad Guys Book Trailer (Scholastic India) - YouTube

Good friends not only listen to you when you need to vent, go shopping with you, they also recommend books that make you laugh till you cry and till your offspring is rolling on the floor, clutching his stomach saying “Stop, stop..I’m going to barf if I keep laughing!”

Got introduced to this series by a good friend who was cleaning house before she migrated to a different continent. These books were intended for TO but I like reading all sorts of books and find that children’s books are a balm for a day when everything seems like of lopsided and heavy.

So we dipped a toe into The Bad Guys and liked it SO much that we plunged headfirst into it. Brought to life by Aaron Blabey, this series is so much more than just a kid’s book or an illustrated one. It’s hilarious, tres tongue-in-cheek and show’s a delightful level of snark in the author’s nature.

So if you have a child whining his head off about being “booooooooored”, then hand him this book and tell him to go whoop it up or do one better; read it to him/her and make a laugh-till-you-cry moment with Mr.Wolf, Mr.Shark, Mr.Snake and Mr.Piranha who are trying to make the world a little better than the rest of the maligned members of their ilk.

Cheers to your inner bookworm!

Why I Stay Away From iPhones

I quite like the iPad and I really really enjoyed using my iPod back in the day (yes, am a few decades old) but I have never been a fan of the iPhone. I type as fast I chatter (actually) and the way I get jammed up because of the stupid auto correct annoys me IMMENSELY!

Anyhoo, I was trawling on Facebook after ages and found a repost on one of my friend’s pages and I laughed harder than I have in a long, long time. First laugh-till-you-cry moment of 2016 as a matter of fact.

So without further ado…here’s why I don’t (can’t) use iPhones. Enjoy…

Mirthful Mondays

Who said Mondays are all about moaning and groaning about the weekend ending? Well..I haven’t said it yet. But the day’s young and my kid will be back from school in a few hours so I have time to make up my quota of Monday moans.

In the interim, here are some funnies that I got as an email forward. Pretty funny truth be told. Not all of it. Just bits and pieces. Just like Mondays.

Enjoy the chuckles!

2. Patient has chest pain if she lies on her left side for over a year.

3. On the second day the knee was better, and on the third day it disappeared.

4. The patient is tearful and crying constantly. She also appears to be depressed.

5. The patient has been depressed since she began seeing me in 1993.
