Kielbasa isn’t the most famous import of Poland. The phrase “not my circus, not my monkey” is apparently a translation of the Polish saying, “nie mój cyrk, nie moje małpy” and boy does it get bandied about a lot!
So while the circus may still put up a tent that you wanted no part of and the monkeys might be clambering all over the place; the only thing to do is keep a big bunch of bananas handy and keep tossing them further and further away to put some distance between you and the simians. If that doesn’t get the job done, one can always fall back on the proverb “monkey see, monkey do. Because if you can’t beat ’em, just join in!
